Year 9 Curriculum
Year 9 is an important stage in a student’s learning journey, as it is the first year students begin to explore, trial and shape pathways aligned to their interests, strengths and future aspirations. Students are provided with greater opportunities for choice and independence as they begin preparing for senior schooling and future pathways.
Alongside their core studies, students can engage in a range of elective and accelerated learning opportunities designed to support individual passions, challenge students academically and help them discover areas of interest for future study.
Full-Year Subjects
Students in Year 9 study the following core subjects across the full year:
- Religious Education
- English
- Mathematics (Accelerated or Mainstream)
- Science (Accelerated or Mainstream)
- Humanities (one semester of History and one semester of Geography)
- Health and Physical Education
- Italian (Accelerated or Mainstream)
- Industry and Enterprise
Elective Subjects (semester based)
Students also participate in four of the following semester-length specialist subjects designed to develop creativity, practical skills and confidence across different learning areas:
