Dante Aligheri Poetry Recital Competition
The Dante Alighieri Poetry Recitation Competition is an annual event organised by the Melbourne Branch of the Dante Alighieri Society, where thousands of Victorian secondary school students (Years 9–12) memorize and recite Italian poems.
Students recite poems—ranging from Dante’s Divine Comedy to contemporary works—in front of judges at the University of Melbourne.
Competition categories typically include Non-Italian and Italian-Australian speakers, spanning Years 9-12.
CRCNK students of Italian in year 10 Italian Extension participated in the past years with amazing results, ranging from first and second place. From 2026, students of Italian in the Accelerated classes will have the opportunity to participate in the competition as well.
It is a wonderful opportunity to promote Italian language and culture, allowing students to showcase skills in pronunciation, expression, and fluency.
E-Sports
eSports offers students a platform to pursue their passion for gaming. eSports is a constructive pursuit that hones cognitive skills, team building, communication and sportspersonship through Video Games.
Ministry Band
The Ministry Band is the College’s flagship musical ensemble. With membership by audition, it is a collaborative group of staff and students led by Casey Nicholson.
The ensemble plays a central role in the spiritual life of the College, enriching liturgies and school masses with contemporary and traditional sacred music. Through thoughtful musical leadership, the Ministry Band seeks to create meaningful worship experiences for the wider College community.
Members of the Ministry Band develop their musicianship, teamwork, and leadership while contributing their talents in service to the College. The ensemble provides students with the opportunity to perform and work alongside experienced staff musicians. The Ministry Band plays a vital role in shaping the musical and spiritual culture of the College.
Italian Language and Culture Trip
This three-week tour provides an immersive experience of Italian language, food and culture. Visiting the Amalfi Coast, Assisi, Bologna, Capri, Florence, Lake Garda, Milan, Naples, Padua, Pisa, Pompeii, Ravenna, Rome, Vatican City, Venice and Verona.
NASA Space Camp
This bi-annual trip provides students with the opportunity to travel to Huntsville, Alabama to experience first-hand the future of space travel. Students participate in a simulated mission requiring the completion of a range of technical challenges. Through engaging in this program students develop their teamwork, leadership and decision-making skills. Following their week at Space Camp, students travel to Orlando to visit Kennedy Space Centre, experience iFly and the Full Sails Program at the University of Florida.
Philippines Community Service Project
Year 10 students are invited to participate in an opportunity to give back and make a difference to rural communities located in the Philippines. Our students are provided, through an immersion program with a local village, the chance to witness and gain insight of the challenges and values faced by people of a very different culture.
